We look back on a great Vision Expo East show in New York!

At the show, Luxexcel launched a world premier: 3D printed ophthalmic lenses. Our turnkey 3D print solution for ophthalmic laboratories will offer a revolutionary new approach to lens manufacturing. In addition, we showcased unique applications of our 3D printing technology for the ophthalmic industry.

Booth visitors were amazed by the possibilities our 3D print solution offers to the ophthalmic industry. Our booth was packed all day and we gained a lot of interest for our technology.

Several highlights at our booth LP4146 were:

  • 3D printed lenses in ophthalmic quality!
  • Video footage of our 3D printer in action
  • Unique ophthalmic showcases for today and tomorrow
  • The launch of our turnkey solution for ophthalmic labs

Luxexcel will start delivery of the technology to selected lens labs in Q3 2017. The initial use will center around specialty RX lenses including prisms, high prescriptions, tri-focals, occupational wear and slab-offs. 

Luxexcel in-lab solution

Our turnkey 3D print solution will enable ophthalmic laboratories to 3D print specialty lenses.
This turnkey solution for ophthalmic labs is based on a click fee model including:

  • 3D printer
  • design software
  • consumables
  • full support

Our technology can be integrated seamlessly in your ophthalmic lab environment. In addition, 3D printed ophthalmic lenses are compatible with industry standards like edging, coating and tinting.

Showcases of 3D printed ophthalmic lenses

Luxexcel initially focusses on providing ophthalmic labs with 3D printing technology for specialty lenses. In future, ophthalmic labs will be able to make better eyeglasses with this technology: exciting new opportunities, like the integration of elements in the lens, will become available.
Examples of possibilities:

  • Electrically switching sunglasses
  • Embedded polarization filters
  • Integration of sensors like UV sensors, eye tracking solutions or displays
  • Printing cosmetic elements on the lens to the whims of your customer
