Optical coatings are more and more used for different optical solutions. Coatings can enhance the optical function or prevent the optic from environmental damage. Several optical coatings are available on the market and have all another function. In this blog post we will dive into the world of optical coatings.
Sometimes it is hard to decide which technology fits your project needs. On one end you have the traditional manufacturing technologies like injection molding and milling and on the other end more new technologies like 3D printing. Each manufacturing method has its own design challenges. To incorporate new technologies, like 3D printing or additive manufacturing, your company should branch out and it might be needed to slightly adjust your design process. If you do so it will result in a design process which completely utilizes the capabilities of 3D printing.
