On September 6th, Luxexcel announced the shipment of the first commercial 3D print solution for ophthalmic lenses to IFB Solutions, based in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, USA. IFB Solutions is the first ophthalmic lab in the world using the Luxexcel VisionPlatform™.
The event marked:
1. the unveiling of the VisionPlatform™ by the mayor of Winston-Salem
2. sign-off of the VisionPlatform™ by IFB Solutions, and
3. the presentation of the VisionPlatform™ to the leading ophthalmic press and 12 selected visionary labs.
During the 3 day event, the unique Luxexcel technology showcased the printing of ophthalmic lenses. Also shown was the working of the full production flow, from lens design to printing, to materials and the integration of the platform in a lab environment.
The big reveal
Mayor Joines of Winston-Salem, NC unveiled the show stealer of the event: the very first installed Luxexcel VisionEngine™. Selected industry press and several news stations captured this moment.
VisionNext 2017: Luxexcel VisionPlatform™ fully operational
During this VisionNext Event, all invitees had a chance to see the first Luxexcel VisionPlatform™ fully operational and printing commercial lenses at IFB Solutions. A wide variety of 3D printed lenses of ophthalmic quality was printed, lenses from -10 to + 10 with prisms, cylinders, various additions and transition zones. On the first event day Danny Kelly, COO of IFB Solutions and Joost van Abeelen, COO of Luxexcel signed for the successful installation of the complete VisionPlatform package, consisting of the printer itself (the VisionEngine™), the printing material (VisionClear™) and VisionMaster™software.
